Why This Error Happens
Most online portals set a maximum file size for uploads. School portals, job applications, visa forms, bank forms and government websites may reject a PDF if it is larger than 1 MB, 2 MB, 5 MB or 10 MB. The error usually appears because your PDF contains scanned pages, phone photos, high-resolution images or too many pages.
Step 1: Compress the PDF
The fastest fix is to compress the file. Open the PDF compression tool, upload your document and download the smaller version. After that, open the compressed PDF and check that the text, signature and images are still readable. Never submit a compressed file without reviewing it first.
Step 2: Split Large PDFs
If the file is still too large, split it into smaller parts. For example, upload only the required pages or divide the document into multiple PDFs. This is useful when a portal asks for separate files such as ID card, transcript, certificate and application form.
Step 3: Remove Unnecessary Pages
